No, you are in full control throughout and it’s a relaxing process. I don’t use swinging pocket watches and you won’t cluck like a chicken.
I work in person and on line. I have an office at home where I see clients, I also hire therapy rooms near clients if they want to work in person, but they are unable to travel (there may be an additional fee). I also use Zoom for online sessions where the client can be in the comfort of their own surroundings.
We’ll begin by chatting and I’ll make sure you feel at ease as much as possible. We will go through some of the background of what has been the issue, when it happens, how it impacts you and find out what you want to be different. I may use some of the techniques in order to help you achieve this.
The first session is 90 minutes, so I can explore the background of the issue in more detail. Follow up appointments are 60 mins. The sessions can be a bit shorter for the comfort of the client, or they have difficulties concentrating for longer periods.
There are no set number of sessions. I work with the client to support them to make rapid and lasting changes. Typically, most clients see a positive change very quickly and tend to have about three sessions. Some have one and others have a few more, depending on the issue, how deep rooted it is and what the client wants to achieve.
Whilst I work hard to support clients to make the changes they want to, like with any therapies there are no absolute guarantees.
In order to safeguard the child and teenager under 16, I work with a parent, guardian or responsible adult supervising the session. They can be present in the room or be in a position where they can see me and / or the child. I can also record sessions online via Zoom. I use play techniques, games and art that is age appropriate with some younger clients. I tailor the session duration to their concentration span and may shorten the session accordingly.
